Home Depot My Workspace
Introducing the Home Depot Workspace website, a revolutionary online portal designed to empower corporate employees with seamless access to essential resources and support. As the Senior Lead UX designer for this transformative project, I spearheaded the conceptualization and development of a dynamic platform that revolutionizes how Home Depot manages its corporate devices and supports its workforce. At the heart of the website lies a robust suite of features, meticulously crafted to streamline device auditing processes and provide employees with comprehensive support services. From auditing devices to facilitating support requests, the Home Depot Workspace website embodies innovation and efficiency, redefining the employee experience within the Home Depot ecosystem. Join us on this journey as we empower employees and optimize corporate operations with the Home Depot Workspace website.
Goal
The overarching goal of the Home Depot Workspace project was to address and mitigate budgetary gaps stemming from hardware displacement within the corporate environment. With devices seemingly disappearing from administrative view, the primary objective was to implement a comprehensive solution that would not only facilitate the locating of devices across corporate infrastructure but also provide employees with access to essential support and device maintenance resources. As the Senior Lead UX designer, my role was pivotal in bridging stakeholders across multiple departments, fostering alignment, and providing a collaborative platform for participation in the device audit process. Through close collaboration and innovative design strategies, the goal was to establish a centralized hub within the Home Depot ecosystem that enhances device visibility, optimizes support workflows, and ultimately safeguards against budgetary losses due to hardware displacement.
Approach
To ensure the successful delivery of the Home Depot Workspace, our approach was multifaceted and collaborative, involving various stages from conception to implementation. As the Senior Lead UX designer, I spearheaded this approach, leveraging my expertise in user experience design to drive the project forward.
- Discovery and Requirements Gathering: We began by conducting thorough research and engaging with stakeholders from multiple departments to understand their needs and pain points. Through interviews, workshops, and surveys, we gathered insights that informed the development of comprehensive user stories and requirements.
- Wireframing and Prototyping: Using the insights gathered, we created wireframes to outline the structure and functionality of the Home Depot Workspace website. These wireframes served as a blueprint for the user interface design and provided a visual representation of the proposed solution. Rapid prototyping allowed us to iterate quickly and gather feedback from stakeholders before moving forward.
- High-Fidelity Designs: With the wireframes approved, we transitioned to developing high-fidelity designs that captured the visual identity and branding of Home Depot while ensuring usability and accessibility. These designs incorporated feedback from key stakeholders and adhered to industry best practices in user interface design.
- Stakeholder Meetings: Throughout the design and development process, we held regular meetings with key stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives. These meetings were instrumental in fostering collaboration and maintaining transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaboration with Developers: As designs were finalized, I collaborated closely with developers to ensure that the vision for the Home Depot Workspace website was translated into functional and responsive code. Regular communication and feedback loops were established to address any technical challenges and ensure that the final product met design specifications.
- Project Management: Finally, project managers played a crucial role in coordinating tasks, managing timelines, and facilitating communication between cross-functional teams. They ensured that the project remained on track and aligned with stakeholder expectations, ultimately contributing to the successful delivery of the Home Depot Workspace website.
By following this comprehensive approach, we were able to deliver a transformative solution that addressed the budgetary gaps in hardware displacement, provided employees with access to essential support and maintenance resources, and fostered collaboration and alignment across multiple departments within Home Depot.

Through meticulous planning, collaboration, and execution, we successfully addressed the budgetary gaps in hardware displacement while providing employees with streamlined access to support and maintenance resources. The website’s intuitive interface and robust functionality garnered widespread acclaim from users and stakeholders alike, enhancing device visibility and optimizing support workflows across the organization. The seamless integration of wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and stakeholder feedback ensured that the final product met and exceeded expectations, delivering tangible value to Home Depot’s corporate environment. With the Home Depot Workspace now in place, employees have a centralized hub to manage devices, access support, and participate in the device audit process, safeguarding against budgetary losses and promoting operational efficiency.
